The Grandfather's Charter

An Intergenerational Covenant
The fundamental test of any civilization is not the volume of its financial transactions, the height of its commercial towers, or the valuation of its software monopolies. The fundamental test of a civilization is whether it leaves the vital conditions of existence more secure, resilient, and uncorrupted for its grandchildren than it inherited from its ancestors.
Those vital conditions are neither abstract nor digital. They are physical:
Clean Water: Abundant, uncontaminated, and flowing through uncompromised municipal networks to every child.
2Reliable Energy: Continuous, stable electrical power energizing our hospitals, homes, and industries without the threat of cascading blackouts.
3Healthy Food: Nutrient-rich, safe agricultural yield cultivated in automated greenhouses and fertile soils, shielded from chemical and computational corruption.
Every human being on this planet is sovereign. Every nation is sovereign. Yet across continents, we are bound together by two undeniable realities: the immutable laws of mathematics and the universal vulnerabilities of the human condition.
When an electrical grid collapses, when a water filtration system is blinded by malicious code, or when an agricultural supply chain is fractured, the suffering is physical.
Mathematics does not recognize national borders, and physical consequences do not respect corporate contracts.
J. McKenneyThe Indictment: The Fragility of Vendor-Locked Infrastructure
For thirty years, the stewardship of civilization's most critical civil infrastructure has been abdicated to proprietary, closed-box commercial software vendors.
This model has failed.
Proprietary, vendor-locked software has created fragile, opaque, single points of failure across the globe. Today, the municipal water systems that hydrate our cities, the substations that power our communities, and the transport arteries that move our citizens depend on black-box software that no sovereign state can audit, no utility operator can independently verify, and no public court can hold accountable.
Worse, the commercial technology industry hides behind corporate jargon and marketing buzzwords. Vendor sales teams invent ever-shifting acronyms to mask a glaring truth: they do not understand the physics of what they are doing.
A software vulnerability scanner cannot model the thermodynamic inertia of a steam turbine.
A corporate “AI dashboard” cannot predict the hydrodynamic backpressure of a contaminated water main.
A cloud-hosted security subscription cannot guarantee the kinetic survival of a high-voltage transformer.
To force sovereign nations, public utilities, and critical employers to surrender their physical independence to proprietary software monopolies is an unacceptable risk to civilization. No sovereign state and no responsible board of directors can ethically delegate the survival of their people to a foreign vendor's closed codebase.
The Antidote: Sovereign Neutrality and Open Mathematics
Eigenia is not a software vendor. We are a neutral scientific foundation, established under Dutch law in the tradition of The Hague: the global home of international peace, justice, and arbitration.
The mathematics that keeps water, energy and food running should belong to no single nation. Eigenia exists in the Netherlands as the shared foundation for civil infrastructure. We provide a globally neutral scientific sanctuary where nations, utilities, and researchers collaborate on the mathematical foundations of operational resilience without fear of geopolitical coercion or commercial lock-in.
Our principles are absolute:
Open Mathematics Over Proprietary Code: The causal relationships between physical components, cyber networks, and mission survival must be expressed in open, mathematically verifiable formalisms. What cannot be proven with mathematical rigor has no place in critical infrastructure.
Transparent Provenance (From Wafer to Grid): True security begins at the silicon level. From manufacturer bills of materials (MBOM) and cryptographic hardware roots of trust, to mechanical schematics (DEXPI) and electrical network topologies (IEC CIM), every layer of civil infrastructure must be auditable by the sovereign entities that rely upon it.
Planetary Human Sovereignty: We reject the premise that security requires surveillance or subjugation. Open standards empower every nation and community to own, inspect, modify, and operate their own digital twins locally, air-gapped, and under their sole sovereign authority.
The Operational Mandate: Fiduciary Discipline & The Hard Stop Gate
Noble purpose without operational discipline is mere sentimentality. We do not engage in open-ended research grants, vague advisory retainers, or endless academic studies.
We measure our work with cold mathematical precision:
Bounded Capital Exposure: Every engagement must be strictly bounded in scope, time, and investment. We do not accept open-ended liability.
2Quantified Risk Elimination: We measure success not by lines of code written or dashboards delivered, but by the tangible reduction of risk: specifically, the Annualized Loss Expectancy (ALE) eliminated per euro invested.
3The Radical Courage of the Stop Gate: Our model is uncompromising. If an Eigenia working group, pilot project, or research track does not reveal non-obvious material dependencies within its bounded evaluation window, or if it fails to accelerate defensible decisions for the leadership responsible, we trigger the stop gate without hesitation.
We walk away. We do not collect fees for work that does not advance human safety.
That willingness to stop is the ultimate guarantee of our intellectual integrity.
The Covenant to the Grandfathers and Grandmothers
To every director, minister, trustee, and engineer who bears the heavy burden of civil infrastructure stewardship:
You are not merely managing capital assets or quarterly earnings. You are the guardians of the physical world.
When you protect a substation, a water treatment facility, or a food processing facility, you are standing guard over the cradle of the next generation.
We invite you to join this charter. Let us replace proprietary fragility with open mathematical certainty. Let us banish corporate jargon in favor of physical reality. And let us build a world where our grandchildren inherit clean water, reliable energy, and healthy food: sovereign, secure, and unbroken.
Signed and ratifiable by sovereign states, public trusts, and critical infrastructure stewards.
Eigenia.
